PolyMide™ PA6-CF

It is suitable for machine components, automotive parts, jigs and fixtures, production tooling, robotics, drones and functional prototypes. Its high stiffness and dimensional stability make it a useful choice for parts that must withstand both mechanical and thermal loads.

The recommended nozzle temperature is 280–300°C and the build plate temperature is 40–50°C. An all-metal hotend capable of operating reliably at a minimum of 280°C is required. The current profile for the same formulation, Fiberon™ PA6-CF20, supports speeds of up to 300 mm/s when the printer can deliver the required volumetric flow.

No. PolyMide™ PA6-CF is designed to print without an actively heated chamber. Polymaker recommends that the temperature around the part should not exceed 50°C. An excessively warm chamber can actually increase warping and reduce part quality.

With this PA6-CF, more heat does not mean less deformation. Polymaker explicitly specifies a maximum build plate temperature of 50°C because higher temperatures can cause warping and uneven geometry. A thin layer of PVA adhesive or Magigoo PA can be used for adhesion. This is also one of the practical PA6-CF issues frequently discussed in user forums.

Yes. Carbon fibres are highly abrasive, so a hardened steel, ruby or other wear-resistant nozzle is recommended. Polymaker notes that a standard brass nozzle may last approximately 9 hours of printing with this material.

Yes. PA6 is highly hygroscopic and must be kept dry. The current recommendation for the same formulation is 100°C for 10 hours, with the material stored and used at a relative humidity below 20%. For long prints, feeding filament directly from a heated dryer or dry box is the preferred approach.

No. The recommended part cooling fan setting is 0%. Strong local cooling can reduce layer adhesion and increase internal stresses. PA6-CF prints best with even, controlled cooling.
