PolyMide™ CoPA Nylon

It is suitable for gears, machine components, automotive parts, assembly fixtures, jigs and fixtures, connectors and other functional parts that must withstand mechanical loads and elevated temperatures. When dry, its XY tensile strength reaches around 78 MPa.

The recommended nozzle temperature is 250–270°C and the build plate temperature is 25–50°C. Polymaker's current technical profile specifies a speed of around 50–200 mm/s. An all-metal hotend capable of operating reliably at a minimum of 250°C is required.

A heated chamber is not required. With PolyMide™ CoPA, excessively high ambient temperatures can actually increase warping. Polymaker recommends keeping the build plate and the air around the part below 50°C. The doors of an enclosed printer can be left open to prevent excessive heat build-up.

Yes. CoPA is highly hygroscopic and should be stored and used at a relative humidity below 20%. Polymaker's current recommendation is drying at 100°C for 8 hours. For long prints, feeding the material directly from a heated filament dryer is preferable. Popping during extrusion, stringing and a rough surface are typical signs of moisture.

Polymaker recommends textured PEI or a suitable PC surface, with adhesive if needed. A PVA glue stick or Magigoo PA can help with adhesion problems. Do not automatically increase the build plate temperature: with CoPA, this can worsen warping rather than reduce it.

A wear-resistant nozzle is recommended. Polymaker notes comparatively rapid wear of standard brass nozzles with PolyMide™ CoPA and therefore recommends hardened steel, ruby or another wear-resistant material.

Yes. Polymaker recommends 80°C for 6 hours to increase crystallisation and help the part reach its optimal mechanical and thermal properties. After annealing, the part is very dry; gradual moisture conditioning makes it tougher and more impact-resistant.
