PolyMax™ PC (formerly PC-Max™)

It is suitable for machine components, jigs and fixtures, housings, motor brackets, 3D printer parts, drones and other functional components exposed to impacts, vibration or elevated temperatures. Its combination of toughness and heat resistance makes it a useful option when PLA and PETG are no longer sufficient.

Polymaker's current recommendation is 250–270°C for the nozzle and 90–105°C for the build plate. The recommended printing speed is 50–200 mm/s; the appropriate value depends on the hotend, geometry and part size.

Yes. Polymaker specifies an enclosed printer as a requirement and strongly recommends an actively heated chamber. For reliable printing, the manufacturer recommends a chamber temperature of around 70°C or higher. Large, dense parts effectively require a heated chamber.

Maintain a high, consistent temperature around the entire part. Preheat the chamber, disable the part cooling fan and keep the printer closed during printing. A brim can further help prevent corner lifting on large parts. PolyMax PC users also identify low chamber temperatures as a main cause of layer splitting and warping.

Yes. Polymaker recommends annealing at 90°C for 2 hours. Annealing reduces the internal stresses created during printing and lowers the risk of subsequent cracking or layer separation. This is particularly important for mechanically loaded functional parts made from PolyMax™ PC.

If the material has absorbed moisture, Polymaker recommends drying at 75°C for 6 hours. A dry box or filament dryer is strongly recommended when working with PolyMax™ PC. Damp material can cause unstable extrusion, surface defects and reduced layer adhesion.

PolyMax™ PC has a glass transition temperature of around 113°C, a Vicat softening temperature of around 116.9°C and an HDT of approximately 99.3°C at 1.8 MPa and 114.1°C at 0.45 MPa. Its XY tensile strength is around 53.4 MPa and its Charpy impact strength around 21.3 kJ/m². This makes it suitable for strong functional parts operating at considerably higher temperatures than standard PLA and PETG.
